This is an excellent compass that is both reliable and accurate. Comes with a lanyard and manual. If your looking for a cheap alternative to a high end compass without sacrificing quality this is the one for you. Has scales for 1:24000 and 1:62500. Built in magnifier and raised bevel ring that can be operated with gloves. Easy to read in low visibility.
The M-5 is a standard base plate or protractor compass, also known in the U.S. as the ‘Contender’ or ‘Smokekiller’ model, and is in use by the U.S. Forest Service. (Outside North America the M-5 is known as the ‘NATO’ model and is issued to U.K. land forces along with the Silva of Sweden Type 4).
